Day 1 : Acclimatization and Local Visits
Pick up: We will pick you up at the world’s second highest Airport (if by air) or the Taxi Stand (if by road). Since Leh is at a very high altitude, you won’t be able to explore much, because if you do, your other 5 days might get wasted. But do not worry, we will not let the day get wasted.
Breakfast: We will provide you with a great breakfast of your choice.
Leh Market: You will then be visiting Leh Market. It is the ancient market of Leh, which has been evolving into a modern market, but it is pollution-less and vehicle less. The Leh market is interesting because it is an amalgamation of the traditional Ladakhi market and modern markets.
Leh Palace: We will then take you to Leh Palace. The Leh Palace is said to have a very unique architectural style that has very less similarity to other ancient and medieval structures of India. Leh Palace in itself is a very beautiful building, which has a great history behind it. By evening, you will have a great view of the sunset from the Palace. Also, from the top of the Palace, you will have a great view of Leh town extending till Stok. A perfect start for your trip.
Shanti Stupa: We will take you Shanti Stupa. This amazing Stupa is said to have been built by Japanese people. This beautiful architectural piece has more than 500 steps if you are a fitness freak and love to climb. But do not worry, you can also go around by a car to the top. Shanti Stupa also has a great view of the whole town of Leh.
Day 2 : Sham Valley
Magnetic Hill: After a good night’s sleep and a tasty breakfast, we will take you to this place where laws of physics do not seem to hold true. A phenomena of nature which goes against the Newtonian principles of gravity. This place is not haunted, but can pull your car to the opposing force of the slope. This place has gained a great deal of attention from people all over the world. The academic world is startled by this hill.
Spituk Monastery: After witnessing the nature defying hill, we will take you to Spituk Monastery. This monastery is also known as Kali Mata Mandir. It is very interesting to know the deities of Hindus and Buddhists are sometimes the same. This temple holds a great amount of scriptures and knowledgeable monks. Spituk Monastery, which is around 8 kms away from the city, is said to be the residential place of Kushok Bakula, one of the most famous head monks of the Buddhist faith, after whom the airport of Leh has been named.
Sangam – The confluence of Zanksar and Indus Rivers: After visiting the monastery, get ready to treat your eyes with one of nature’s most beautiful views. Sangam, where the famous Indus River meets Zanskar River, is a breathtaking place. It is a perfect place for great selfies and nature photography for your Instagram followers.
Pather Sahib Gurudwara: We will then take you to this very important Gurudwara. Legend says that during Guru Nanak’s visit to Leh to fight a demon, the demon rolled down a boulder to the place where Guru Nanak was meditating. Soon as the boulder, or pather in Hindi, touched the Guru’s body, it melted like a wax. Hence, this place is called Pather Sahib Gurudwara.
Alchi Monastery: After the beautiful view of Pather Sahib, we will take you to the famous Alchi, Monastery. This is one of the monasteries that every traveler yearns for. Alchi Monastery is near the Indus River, so the view is unmatched. It is located on a hill, which will give you a thrill. It is pure happiness that you will get after visiting here and interacting with the monks. Imagine it all you can, it will exceed all your imaginations.
Basgo Castle: Love to see historical sites? Basgo village is said to be of strategic importance to the kings living there. The castle known as Basgo Rabtan Lhartsekhar is situated there on a clay hill. During the reign of Jamyang Namgial and Singay Namgial, father and son built it. The Principal image there is that of the ‘Golden Maitreya’ a sacred copper-gilt image of the Maitreya Buddha.
Hall of Fame: While returning from the strategic Basgo Castle, we will take you to Hall of Fame. This is a museum which preserves the memories of the Indian Army. It makes you think about all those soldiers who laid their lives for this great nation during the Indo-Pak wars. The ground floor was information about the soldiers, while on the first floor there are artifacts like weapons and documents of previous wars that India fought, especially the Kargil War, which happened just a couple of hundred kilometers away from Leh.
Day 3 : Nubra Valley
Khardungla Pass: Ever wondered how the highest motorable place on the face of earth looks like? Well, this is the day we are going to explore it. Standing at an altitude of more than 20,000 ft., this place is for sure worth visiting. It is on the way to our trip to Nubra Valley.
Deskit Monastery: Deskit Monastery is one of the gorgeous monasteries of the Ladakh region. This monastery is famous for its view extending all over Nubra. You will get to see the awesomeness of the valley from the monastery. Click all the pictures you want to today! Make sure your camera has enough space in it!
Hunder: Hunder is a village in Nubra. This place is so picturesque that movies like Dil Se has been shot here. Being the capital of the ancient Nubra kingdom, you can still see the ruins of the former King’s palace, also known as the Elephant Palace by the locals. Also, you must have seen camels of Rajasthan, we have it here also, but with a stark difference. The camels of Hunder are of a different species, and they have double humps, unlike the normal single humped camels. You will take a ride on these camels in the white desert. Moreover we will also explore the Hunder Village.
Panamic: After a wonderful camel safari, we will take you to nature’s hot springs. Yes, it is true, and the springs have real hot water. What more, you can take bath in these. It is a place known for its true value and one of nature’s many miracles. You will also be interacting with the locals in the village if you want to know more about their social and cultural life.
Day 4 : Pangong Lake
Samstanling Monastery: After a good night’s sleep, we will be leaving for the beautiful Pangong Lake via Samstanling Monastery. This monastery is dated back to the 19th Century and currently is residence to more than 50 monks. This place hosts beautiful wall paintings representing the teachings of Buddha.
Shayok: We will take the route to Pangong from Nubra via Shayok. Shayok again is a beautiful river flowing at its zenith. This is a view you cannot afford to miss. (Link to pics and more details)
Pangong: Seeing nature’s beauty en-route and wildlife based on your luck, we reach Pangong by afternoon / evening. This is the lake which Ladakh is famous for. This Lake expands in two counties – India and China. Pangong is said to change colors due to refraction of sunlight. This is the place which will get you many new followers on Instagram, and they will want to visit Leh more than ever!
Camping at Pangong: Ever watched a movie where couples / groups go for camping? How beautiful does it look? Well, we are going to do that as well. Imagine what a wonderful time you would have there with your loved ones. Solo is also not bad, if you want a spiritual rejuvenation.
Day 5 : Tsomoriri
Tsaga La: After a delicious breakfast at Pangong, we go to Tsomoriri Lake via Tsaga La, a pass approx. 14500 ft high. There is China on your left therefore you will get a lot of army bases. Be very attentive, because you might get a chance to see Tibetan wild asses on the way. So, get keep your cameras ready.
Rezang La: The next pass that we cross is the Rezang La, located near the famous Chushul Valley. It is one the place where the battle of 1962 was fought. Though entry is restricted to many areas, we will help you in exploring as much as possible.
Tsomoriri: After witnessing a wonderful drive, we reach Tsomoriri, which is located at an altitude of around 14800 ft. Tsomoriri is smaller in size than Pangong, but the view is as beautiful as Pangong. Tsomoriri is a protected land as “wetland reserve” and you will get to see a great deal of wildlife here.
Stay: We will halt for the night in Tsomoriri area and will continue with the exploration the next day.
Day 6 : Tso Kar Lake
Hot water springs: After breakfast, on the way to Tso Kar, we will stop at hot water springs in the area. Yes, it is real, hot water coming out from the belly of the earth. It is a place known for its true value and one of nature’s many miracles.
Tso Kar: We will reach Tsokar in the early afternoon. It is such a beautiful lake that people from all over the world come to visit here. Another great advantage of visiting this lake is that it will have lesser number of visitors than both Pangong and Tsomoriri. It is also a heaven for the bird watchers, as you can see many endangered species like the Brahmini duck, bar headed geese, crested grebe and most importantly, the black necked crane.
Kongka Pass: It is one of the many passes which is considered to be on the Line of Actual Control, bordering China. We will get to go to this pass, but beware, there are rumors that aliens have made a base there. You might get to see one!
Taglang La Pass: As we proceed, we reach the Taglang La pass. It stands at a mighty 5328 mtrs from sea level, making it the second highest mountain pass in Ladakh, just after Khardungla. You will a lot of vegetation on both the sides, and therefore, a great view.
Night Stay: Do not worry, we have more to explore. But before that, we will reach to your comfortable hotel and take a night’s rest in this beautiful area.
Day 7 : Back to Leh with Local Sightseeing
Return: Wait, the trip is not over yet! We are going to do a lot of local sightseeing while going back to Leh, after a warm and refreshing breakfast.
Visit to monasteries: In pictures that our friends post, or the ones you see on internet, don’t the monasteries look beautiful? Visiting to monasteries will immerse you into the cultural beauty of Leh. Along with it, you will also witness the architectural beauty of these monasteries. You will get to interact with the monks and trust us, it will be really interesting. We will be visiting the most famous monasteries of Leh known as Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and Shey Monastery.
Visit to Shey Palace: Shey is said to have been the summer capital of ancient Ladakh, Leh Palace being the winter capital. Shey Palace is a beautiful structure with a lot of history attached to it.
Stok Palace and Museum: The king of Stok Palace is said to have fought with forces from Jammu, many of the memories of which are stored in the palace museum at Stok. This is indeed one of the most beautiful palaces of the Ladakh region.
Sindhu Ghat: The name Hind is derived from the word Sindh, which is another name for Indus River. Like so many ghats elsewhere in India, we also have Sindhu ghat in Leh. The Indus Valley Civilization is said to have started on the banks of Indus River.
Day 8 : Home Sweet Home
Breakfast: With the breathtaking experience of the tour ending, we will provide you with a great breakfast.
Airport Drop: After breakfast, we will drop you to airport to bid farewell.
