Pilgrims also make sure to take a dip either in the icy cold waters of Maa Yamuna or in the nearby natural hot water spring before they enter the temple premises. After enjoying the darshan of Goddess Yamuna at her shrine in Yamunotri, proceed down to Janki Chatti.
Yamunotri Temple: The temple worships Goddess Yamuna. As per Hindu mythology, River Yamuna is the sister of Lord Yam raj, the God of Death. Also, she is revered as the daughter of Lord Surya, the Sun God. This temple was ravaged by the catastrophe of recurring avalanches in the past. The temple has subsequently been rebuilt after every such calamity. The credit goes to Maharani Gularia of Jaipur for construction of this beautiful temple.
Surya Kund: Of the many thermal springs located near the temple, ‘Surya Kund’ dedicated to Lord Surya is the most famous.
Divya Shila: The local folklore celebrates ‘Divya Shila’ to be the place from where River Yamuna first initiated her journey.

On Pandavas having divined Lord Shiva’s presence in a bull, they chased the animal only to have it disappear into the ground, leaving its mere hump on the surface. Namaste Holiday was highly recommended by a friend from England. We were delighted with all the arrangements Dinesh Kumar Gaur made for our sight seeing tour of Rajasthan and our onward travel requirements. Essentially he arranged a car and driver to take us ever we wished to visit in Jaipur, and Agra and arranged our onward travel, one group back to Delhi and one on to Lucknow. The cars and drivers were excellent and Bajrang Singh Ji was particularly helpful. Dinesh also arranged a guide in Jaipur for the Janta Mantra and the city Palace who was very good. Overall the arrangements made our trip to Rajasthan and onto Lucknow very easy. Would recommend unreservedly.
