Day 1 : Kathmandu to Lhasa
To reach Lhasa, we will take an hour flight from Kathmandu. During the flight, you can enjoy views of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu at mere distance from the window seat of the plane. After completing all the visa and passport formalities, you will meet our native Tibetan guide who will then transfer you to your designated hotel in Lhasa. When you reach in Lhasa, enjoy walking around Barkhor Market Square which is the popular tourist market o Lhasa. Overnight at Lhasa
Day 2 : Lhasa
After breakfast at the hotel, our first destination will be Potala palace which is now the residence of Dalai Lama. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.
Then after lunch, we will head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside the temple you will see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside you will see pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. After exploring Jokhang Temple, you can take a walk around Barkhor Street which is the one of the most devotional circuit as well as crowded central market of Lhasa since the early days. It used to be the most famous local market but now it is changed to tourist gift shopping centre. Overnight at Lhasa
Day 3 : Lhasa
On day 3rd of our Lhasa we will be visiting two big monasteries in Tibet i.e. Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. In the morning, after breakfast we will visit Drepung Monastery; once the world's largest monastery that housed for more than 10,000 monks. It was resident of the Dalai Lama prior to Potala Palace. Inside the monastery walking through numbers of narrow and twisted lane through the monks’ apartments is more like a typical village.
Then, we will visit Sera Monastery. It was built in the fifteenth century by the Jamchen choji Sakya Yeshi who is disciple of Tsongka pa. There are few different monastic colleges in Sera which is home to several hundred monks from different part of Tibet. Overnight at Lhasa
Day 4 : Lhasa to Shigatse via Gyantse
Today, we will be driving towards Shigatse via Gyantse. We will be crossing Yarlung Tsangpo River or Bhrmaputra rivers then towards zig-zag climb on winding road towards scenic Khamba-la pass. Drive leads towards Turquoise lake of Yamdrok Tsho and then Nagarktse. From here a few hour drive brings us at Tibet’s second largest city in Shigatse. Upon reaching you can take a short walk around the street and shops of Shigatse. Overnight at Shigatse
Day 5 : Shigatse to Rongbuk via Tingri
After breakfast, we will drive towards Gyatchu which will be the highest pass of the journey following Kailash highway. It will be our brief stop from where we can see beautiful views before heading towards Shegar also known as Tingri. On the way, you can view panorama view of world’s highest mountain from Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu to Shisapangma with array of peaks. The drive leads further towards our destination at Rongbuk Monastery with superb views of towering Mt. Everest North Face.
While in Rongbuk visit tou can visit its main chapel of Sakyamuni Buddha with other great statue of Buddhist saints with overnight in a local lodge / guest house of simple and basic facilities.
Day 6 : Hike to EBC and Drive Back to Shigatse
Drive to Everest base Camp is limited up to Rongbuk, allowing few vehicles for interested elderly people only. Here one can take a horse cart or taxi on motorbike to reach base camp, or hike of few hours heading towards dunes and moraine crossing few icy stream to land at world’s highest Mt. Everest Base Camp, where Tibetan calls as Chomolungma means great Mother.
After staying for awhile and enjoying the view of towering North Face of Mt. Everest with other adjoining peaks and then head back to Rongbuk for the drive to Shigatse on the same scenic route. Overnight at Shigatse
Day 7 : Back to Lhasa
Today, we will return back to Lhasa taking a short route from Shigatse driving through Gyantse following the newly built highway following Yarlung Tsangpo River / Brahmaputra most of the way. Upon reachin Lhasa you can spend your free afternoon doing individual activities and shopping souvenirs on this last day in Lhasa.
Day 8 : Lhasa to Kathmandu
Our representative will transfer you to the airport approximately 3 hrs before your scheduled flight. Bid your farewell to our Tibetan guide as fly back to Kathmandu with a super scenic view.
