Tilicho Lake Trek in Annapurna region is highly renowned for being the highest lake trek in the world.Through ever so stunning trails across dense and lush forests, White Water Rivers, slippery ridges and ethnic villages of the locals, this trek takes you all the way up to the stunning Tilicho Lake in the Annapurna region. Tilicho Lake is situated at 4949m in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas in Manang district of Nepal. The Tilicho base camp trek is getting plenty of exposure and is getting highly popularized among adventure seekers as the trek can be done as a teahouse trek and there is no need for camping as new lodges have been built to accommodate tourists.
We begin the Tilicho Lake trek from the ancient city of Kathmandu with a local bus ride or a private jeep drive to the small town of Besisahar, from where the trek really begins. Walking along the rapidly flowing Marsayangdi River, with spectacular views of Manaslu and Himal Chuli looming around to the east, this trek is definitely going to be a lifetime experience. The Tilicho lake trek also leads us to exquisite and fine villages that are inhabited by a wide diversity of people from different ethnic groups all the while being surrounded by spectacular and majestic views of the white Himalayas. We have added a twist to the Tilicho lake trek as it is basically the same as Annapurna Circuit. As we get to Manang and instead of taking the valley north to Tanki Manang and Yak Kharka, we diverge our route to the west towards the main valley through the Khanshar Village (The Last Village of Nepal), from where we trek up to Tilicho Lake. We later trek to Yak Kharka and then walk through the pass of Thorong La at the elevation of 5,416m. After conquering the Thorong La pass, this treks lead us down to the home of a holy temple Muktinath, and then to the land of apples, Jomsom from where we have a 35-minute scenic mountain flight to Pokhara.Sightseeing or any extra activities except the above program

We walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda rock face, a dramatic curved rock face rising 1500 m from the river. From here, we also gain excellent views of Annapurna 2 to the south and Pisang Peak to the north east. We descend to the Manang Valley floor enjoying the captivating landscape. Overnight at guest house with breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea/coffee.
Day 6 : Pisang to Manang (3,500m): 6 - 7 hours.
From Pisang there are two routes to Manang. We choose the one which passes through Upper Pisang via Geru as it guarantees outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and others. As we near Manang, the climate becomes colder and drier. However, a short visit to Barge Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Manang District, should cheer us up. Day 7 : Manang to Khangsar (3745m): 2-3 hours.

After the initial tough ascent, our trail traverses onto a moraine and then cuts along the side of the mountain. However, the spectacular views of Tilicho, Nilgiri, Khangsar and Muktinath peaks are always close by to cheer us up. Upon reaching Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, we get to admire its tranquil beauty. Sometimes reflections of the surrounding peaks are seen on its turquoise waters, at other times the lake remains frozen. We take a break beside the calm waters and soak-in the astounding views before heading back to the base camp. Overnight at guest house with breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea/coffee.
Day 10 : Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4040m): 4-5 hours.

Our trail continues through the ruins of the old Khangsar village, until we cross a log bridge over the river between Gumsang and Yak Kharka. The typical Himalayan village of Yak Kharka is an accolade to its name, as lots of yaks can be seen grazing and standing around. From here we also get breathtaking views of Annapurna III. When we finally make it to the top, we realize that our journey was worth it. We can take a few photos before heading to Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La pass. Overnight at guest house with breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea/coffee.
