Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival Addis in Ababa

  You will be welcomed at the airport by our staff and transferred to your Hotel for check in. After refreshment Discover Addis Ababa, the diplomatic capital of Africa, headquarters of the African Union and home to over 100 embassies. This afternoon we visit the National Museum that houses the famous remains of ‘Lucy’ and the magnificent Trinity Cathedral, resting place of Haile Selassie. Welcome dinner in a smart Addis Ababa restaurant overlooking the city .overnight Zesit lodge.

• Day 2 : Bahir Dar

  Early in the morning, depart north to Bahir Dar via Debre Markos. On the way visit the Portuguese bridge, said to have been the first bridge in Ethiopia. Afterwards, you will pass through the spectacular Blue Nile Gorge. The gorge extends nearly 400km and reaches depths up to 1500m. Overnight Tana hotel near by the lake.

• Day 3 : Blue Nile Falls & Ancient monasteries on Lake Tana

  In the morning, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the island monasteries, such as Azwa mariam on the Zege Peninsula and Kibran Gabriel (not allowed for women), and the source of the Blue Nile River where by chance you might see hippotamus. In the afternoon, drive out to the Blue Nile Falls for a short hike in the area. Finish the day with the sunset over the lake. Overnight Tana hotel near by the lake.

• Day 4 : Gondar - UNESCO World Heritage Site

  After breakfast, continue north to Gondar. The four-hour drive will take you through rural villages, offering wonderful insight into the Amhara culture. After briefly settling in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings. Additionally, visit Fasilidas’s Pool, still used for Timket celebrations today, and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous ceiling in Ethiopia.

• Day 5 : Simen Mountain National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site

  Morning drive to the Simen mountain national park head quarter where we stop for entrance formalities then drive to the park gate where we start Trekking to fully appreciate the Simien Mountains parks’ stunning scenery and pastoral lifestyle that has remained unchanged for centuries. After a picnic lunch we continue to admire the dramatic landscape of the Simien range home to the indigenous Gelada baboon(Grant to see) lammergeyers.
  Overnight to Simein lodge-the highest hotel in Africa-3,200 above sea level.

• Day 6 : Axum - UNESCO World Heritage Site

  We drive through The Simen mountain landscape and the Tekeze valley into one of Ethiopia’s most scenic highland range with spectacular plateau and deep gorges to Axum- Ethiopia’s spiritual centre and possibly home to one of the world’s most elusive relics; the Arc of the Covenant. overnight Sabean hotel.

• Day 7 : Sightseeing in Axum

  Explore -Axum, famous for its more than 2000 year old Axumite long standing steles measuring some of them up to 33m high, the bath and palace of Queen of Sheba, King Kaleb's and other kings tombs, archaeological museum which is widely rated as Ethiopia's best, the church of St. Mary of Tsion, where the original Ark of covenant is housed. Legend has it that the son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon of Israel, King Menelik I brought the original Ark from Israel to Axum.

• Day 8 : Axum - Mekelle

  After breakfast drive through the historical town of Adwa, this is the major African battle field (where the Italians where vanished by Menelik II force in 1896), the Temple of Yeha (5thy Century) the oldest Temple in Ethiopia-was worshipped for Almoka (moon god ) before Christianity, The temple is believed to be the oldest standing building in the country. DebreDamo (6th Century) Monastery is another Option open Only for Men and Accessed By Climbing Rope. Continue driving to Mekele-the capital of Tegray region en route visit Rock church of Abbrha we Atsebha Or Wekro Cherkos

• Day 9 : Mekelle - Lalibela ( 460 km through Waldi)

  Drive from Mekele to Lalibela, passing through the dramatic landscape of the Ethiopian Highlands. Lunch in the town of Waldia, after lunch continue to drive Lalibela via the Mountains of Dilb and Gashena. Overnight Top 12 Hotel.

• Day 10 : Lalibela

  visit the 11 remarkable rock hewn rock churches of Lalibela including Bete Medhanialem and St George churches which were believed to have been built by the king Lalibela in the late 11th or early 12th century Overnight Top 12 Hotel.

• Day 11 : Kombolcha

  Early in the morning, drive to Kombolcha via Woldia, on the way visiting the lake in the town of Hayk, where you can visit the local monastery and enjoy the birdlife. Overnight Sunny side international hotel.

• Day 12 : Addis Ababa

  Return driving to Addis via Debre Birhan. On the way you pass the Mezezo Escarpment, with a good chance to see the endemic gelada baboons. If today is a Sunday, you can stop in the town of Senbete to visit the lively market including the interesting camel market.
