Makalidurga has a very small station and the train passing through the hills is an enchanting sight indeed. This is one of the closest weekend destinations from Bangalore having a rocky terrain surrounded by dense forest plantation throughout the hill and the railway track hike in between the wildest hills towards the Makalidurga Hill adds a sense of thrill in the beauty of the night.

If you are daring enough,Makalidurga night trek is an experience not to be missed. The hill was covered with green shrubs, the climate was cool with sun hiding behind the clouds for most of the time. The trek is relatively easy for all age group people except at one point where you have to climb a big rock which could be crossed easily with help of others.

A zest to explore, good stamina to walk long distances and a love for adventure are its key ingredients .Night trekking will starts around 1 am in the morning when we reach the Makalidurga Railway Station. The distance on the railway track is around 3kms to the base of Makalidurga Hill which surpasses not just the beautiful hills on the roundabouts but also a clear beautiful sky with stars twinkling and moon shining for the trek that you always wanted. An old parallel railway track which has no railway track through also goes towards the Makalidurga Hill by taking a sharp left turn at the temple which is almost 3km away from the Makalidurga Railway Station. Once the temple premises are crossed an open passage with the sky spreading the arms all over the horizon can be seen with the visible traces of Makalidurga Fort on the top of the right hill. The center of the Makalidurga Hill Top has a Shiva Temple where occasional Pooja is done by the local villagers. There will be two huge rocks on the right side of the trail and that will lead to the top of Makalidurga Fort which is situated atop the massive granite hill.

The highlight of the destination is the Makalidurga fort which lies atop a granite hillock. The cooler months of September to February are the best time for trekking in Makalidurga. For more adventure experience, we conduct Rappelling or Abseiling - means getting down from a steep rock with the help of a rope and safety gadgets. A place with so many adventure activities is a must visit for adventure enthusiasts and beginners alike.
