Day 6 : Phustring - Bhabha Pass
Climbing steeply, the going is rugged for most of the day, there is no defined trail, walking over moraine, scree, boulders and a push through the snowfields to the top. The top of the Pass offers great contrast to both sides, towards Spiti, it is the chocolate coloured barren mountains and to the Kinnaur side it is all green. First part of the descent involves ice/snow field for around hundred meters. The later part is descending through the moraine till we get to the bottom. From here it is another half an hour through the boulders. Dinner and overnight stay at camp in Paldhar.

Walk over the pass and as we leave the Pin Valley, we observe the great contrast between both sides of the pass. The trek down on the other side is over a snow field and later on over huge boulders for about 200 meters. This is the High Camp for people climbing the pass from Mantalai side. We further descend down the lateral moraine and over some steep sections to reach a series of meadows. The views of Pyramid Peak, Snow Peak and Unnamed Peak are superb, from here. Another steep descent from here and we are at Mantalai Lake. Dinner and overnight stay at camp in Mantalai.

Day 14 : Thakur Kuan - Khir Ganga
Today is a long day of descent. The path goes over rock faces of cliffs and further descends through birch groves and dense vegetation. The campsite is on a steep sided meadow with many cafes catering to mostly foreign tourists and offers spectacular views of the waterfalls cascading down from the shiny black rocks across the valley. DARE THE HIMALAYAS is THE organization to hire for trekking in the Indian Himalayas. We have done Bhabha-Pin Pass, Borassu Pass, Rakhtisar-The Great Himalayan National Park Trek with them over 2014-17 seasons. One of the most professional bunch of people they are and we did not have to worry a fig about the arrangements. They cut no corners yet always deliver on time!! Also, they have become extended family now and if it is trekking in Himachal, especially Kinnaur, then we HIGHLY recommend DARE THE HIMALAYAS to any and every trekker in this world.
