OVERVIEW
The Trek of A one-day trek on the oldest migratory route followed by shepherds of Chamba and Kangra. Years ago, the British begin trekking to Triund on this route and today it is a popular trek route with the domestic as well as foreign tourists. An early morning trek begins from Mcleod ganj (1700 meters), as one ascends to Dharamkot village (2100 meters), panoramic scenes stretch below - layers of hills housing small villages spread in the vast expanse of Kangra valley. Going up a little further, you1 hear the silence speak in sounds of birds’ wings flapping. It is early dawn and happy, free birds take joyous flights, hovering over your head while your sweating body demands a few resting moments. You can hear the wind and see its presence in swaying tiny twigs and towering pines. The music of birds reverberates all around in their magical chirping.

And then one reaches the Galu Temple (2130 meters), besides which a small refreshment shop aptly named "rest a while." From this point the trekking gets rigorous, with 22 steep curves and tough trails to Triund. On reaching Triund (2975 meters) the sheer magnificence takes you unawares.

Transport Options (Delhi - Mc Leod Ganj - Delhi)
For travel to Mcleod ganj and back one can choose between air, rail & road. For air travel, the closest airport is the Gaggal DHM, also known as Kangra Airport, or Dharamsala Airport and is well connected to Delhi and other parts of the country by Kingfisher Red.

There are frequent Public Transport buses including Volvos available from Delhi to Mcleodganj that cost about Rs. 550 - 900 per person. These buses depart from Majnu ka tilla every 30 mins. or so and take about 12 hrs to cover the distance. The same is also applicable on the return journey. A private vehicle could also be arranged for if you require the same.

Weather Details
Summer in Mcleod ganj extends from March to June when the temperature variation is recorded to be ranging between 23°c and 27°c. Mercury sometimes reaches up to 38°c but never goes beyond that. During winters the temperature can drop to -1° and the maximum temperature hardly goes up to 20°c.

• Day 1 : Mc Leod Ganj - Triund (2875m) Trek/9 km

  It is a beautiful walk through mixed forests of deodar, oak and rhododendron. Triund is situated on a ridge with a beautiful view of whole Kangra valley on one side and Dhauladhar mountain range on the other. Night stay in a tents or private guest houses.

  • Themes : Hill Stations & Valleys

• Day 2 : Triund - Mc Leod Ganj (2875m) Trek/9 km

  Follow the same route on the way back or a different one from Triund going over a grassy meadow and descend down to Bhagsu Nag and then to Mc Leod Ganj.
