Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival

Upon arriving in Vientiane, tour tour guide will be holding a welcome signboard with the “LAOS TOUR PACKAGE LOGO & your name” to pick up you and transferred to hotel. Vientiane (The City Of The Moon) is the largest city in Laos and its capital. The beautiful ancient city sits on the left bank of the Mekong River.

  • Day 2 : Luang Prabang

Your Laos tour commences immediately after you have enjoyed your first breakfast in Vientiane. Your Laos tour guide will collect you from the hotel. Your first port of call will be Wat Sisaket with its thousands of statues of the Buddha. The official count is 6840. The Emerald Buddha, now found in Bangkok’s Wat Prakeow, used to be housed in Wat Prakeo and it is here along with Wat Simuang that we will visit next. Lunch can be taken at one of the many superb restaurants in the city centre. The wonderful Golden stupa of That Luang is your next port of call. From there you will go to see The Triumphal Arch of Patuxai, constructed from concrete that was originally intended for the airport. It is known locally as The Vertical Runway. Your first full day finishes back at the hotel. Your Laos trip organisers have arranged your overnight stay here.

  • Day 3 : Luang Prabang

After your breakfast your transport awaits for your day’s tour. Your Laos trip driver will take you 30km to visit the Buddha Park. This combination of Buddhist and Hindu statues was created by a mystical monk on parkland close to The Mekong River. On the way we will stop at the famous Laos / Thai Friendship Bridge. This provides good photo opportunities. We will return to Vientiane in the late afternoon. You may now relax and enjoy a quiet evening. Your accommodation in Vientiane is arranged by your Laos tour operator.

  • Day 4 : Vientiane

Your final breakfast in Vientiane is again courtesy of your Laos tour package. After a free morning your Laos trip organizer will collect you from the hotel for transfer to the airport. You will make the short afternoon flight to Xiengkhouang (QV 401 at 13:30/14:00). This area was heavily bombed by American forces between 1964 and 1973. Your Laos tour guide will take you to your hotel where you will be able to relax and spend the night in Xiengkhouang.

  • Day 5 : Vientiane

After your breakfast at your new hotel your Laos holiday driver will collect you and take you to the famous Plain Of Jars. Xiangkhouang Province covers an area of 15,880 square kilometres (6,130 sq mi) and is largely mountainous. The Plain of Jars is a large area extending around Phonsavanh. Here enormous jars of unknown origin are scattered everywhere. They are carved from solid rock, some from molasse, which is like sandstone, but some from granite. Although many have been removed over the years there are still several hundred remaining. Later in the afternoon we will visit the old capital of Muang Khoun and its nearby villages. The Hmong hill-tribe and the Tai Dam people have colourful customs and history. Your Laos tour has arranged your overnight stay in Phonsavanh.

  • Day 6 : Vientiane

An early start after your breakfast will see us visit the Central Market of Phonsavanh. Here the local hill-tribes gather to barter and exchange their merchandise. Leaving here we make the 306 km journey to Luang Prabang. On the way we will stop and visit the site at Thampra. Here the Buddha images date back about 200 years. We will also visit various hill-tribe villages along the route. We will take a short coffee break at Sala Phoukhoun. This is where the provinces of Vientiane, Xiengkhouang and Luang Prabang meet. We will then arrive at our destination city, Luang Prabang. This city is extremely beautiful and culturally important. Your Laos tour advisor has arranged overnight accommodation.

  • Day 7 : Vientiane

Your Laos tour organisers have again arranged breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast you will see Wat Visoun with its impressive stupa and the shrine of Wat Aham. Next you will walk up the 355 steps to the summit of Mount Phousi. At the half way point you will see the Wat Tham Phousi shrine and at the summit you will visit the gilded stupa. Your Laos trip affords spectacular views of the city and The Mekong River. After descending, you will be taken to visit Hmong Market affording plenty of opportunities for purchasing souvenirs. Your first full day in Luang Prabang ends with an overnight stay at your hotel, arranged by your Laos tour guide.
