Located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, Olango Wildlife Sanctuary is home to different species of brids. More than 93 spices of birds are seen here out of which 48 are migratory. Also, it is the first international wetland of Philippines. Visitors also get a chance to see endangered species of migratory birds like Chinese Egret.
Activities
Nature walk activity is offered by the sanctuary where tourists are accompanied by expert guides. The guides are well-equipped with professional binoculars and long-range telescopes for bird watching and identifying the correct species. This activity will last for an hour or so.
Cost of visiting the Sanctuary
For local visitors it is Php20 and for oreign visitors it is Php100. The cost for nature walk is Php20.
Opening hours
The sanctuary is open on all days from 9am to 5pm except on November 1, 2, December 24, 25, 31, January 1st, Easter weekend (between March-April).
Best time for bird watching
The best time to visit the sanctuary is from September. The largest flock of birds is seen during this time.
Facilities in the sanctuary
There are very basic facilities in the sanctuary with a small bathroom and no locker and restaurant facilities.
