The Albert Falls Dam Nature Reserve, established in 1975, is a popular tourist destination for tourists from all over the world. The uMngeni River flows through the countryside of KwaZulu Natal and meets the Lions River just before arriving at Midmar Dam. The river then plunges into a fall of 111 meters and then meets the Karkloof tributary at the uMngeni Valley. The river then flows through the Albert Falls Dam. Apart from being a popular destination for bass fishing, the picnic spots and the wildlife of the Albert Falls Dam Nature Reserve have always pulled in the crowd of adventure tourists. There are also fishing, rock climbing, game viewing, and adventure activities for the tourists.
