Table Mountain of Cape Town, South Africa has been an enchanting attraction for those who have stood before its magnificent view. The mountain offers trekking opportunities to the mountaineering enthusiasts. However, it should be noted that the mountain route to the top features many challenges and only a few can truthfully claim to have reached the top through the hazards of trek. The local authorities, in an attempt to solve this problem, launched a mission to set up transportation methods to the top of the mountain. This move was highly appreciated by the locals. Plans to lay a railway track started taking shape in the late nineteenth century but met a red light due to the commencement of the Anglo-Boer Wars. A second plan to install a funicular railway track was interrupted by the First World War. An Aerial Cableway was finally laid and opened on October 4, 1929 and has been a huge success ever since. Renovations and modifications were made in 1993 which further enhanced the view from the cars. The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has carried many prominent personalities from various corners of the world and from different fields.
