If you wish to explore the exotic flora and fauna of the Gulf, here is where you should be. This place houses the largest collection of Arabian wildlife and displays them indoors. So you can visit here even on a sunny day. The zoological park is located in the Desert Park at Sharjah, around 25 km east of the city.
At the wildlife center, the biota has been divided into various sections, one for each group of species, such as, in the reptile, fish and insect houses you will get to see many snakes, lizards, chameleons, spiders and scorpions etc. Other sections have been categorized as the aviary, houses for small cats and nocturnal houses. Some of the animals can be seen in their natural habitat through glass walls. Oryx antelopes, wolves, hyenas, cheetahs and Arabian leopards are few of the outdoor ones.
Apart from these sections, you can enlighten yourself about the endangered species of the Arab region through the Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife. Natural History Museum, the Botanical Museum, and Children's Farm are also some places you can explore. The center remains closed on Tuesdays and on public holidays one will have to confirm before visiting.
