Kanungu is a district located in southwestern Uganda, bordered by the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west and neighboring districts like Rukungiri and Kisoro. Uganda has a tropical climate. It is generally rainy except the period from December to February and from June to August. These two periods are the two dry seasons of Uganda. The northeast of Uganda is semiarid in nature.
Uganda is situated at an average of 1,100 meters (3,609 ft.) above sea level and then is a steady slope to the Sudanese Plain. The central area of Uganda is covered by Lake Kyoga and the marshes surrounding it. The southern parts are wetter and it gets drier as the northern parts are approached.

Suitable Visiting Seasons : Uganda can be visited all through the year as the temperature is quite moderate. However, the periods between March and April and October and November witness heavy rainfall and thus should be avoided if gorilla safari is a part of the tour plan.
